Date: 2/23/2011

Motor Boating Magazine's Best of the Year and NMMA Innovation Awards Are the Latest Additions to A Long List of Accolades Garnered by the Electronics Leader

Simrad Yachting, the market leader in marine electronics for recreational boating, has announced it has received two top product awards at the 70th Miami International Boat Show. The Simrad NSE multifunction display and NSO Offshore navigation system were honored with Motor Boating Magazine's 2011 Best of the Year Award, and the Simrad BSM-2 Broadband SounderTM received the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Award.

Motor Boating Magazine's Best of the Year award winners are an exclusive group of electronics, boats, engines and gear selected by the magazine for their ability to make boaters' lives on the water better, safer, cleaner and more fun. The Innovation Awards program, organised by the NMMA and judged by Boating Writers International (BWI), recognises products that best meet the criteria of "innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality; and cost-effectiveness".

"We are thrilled to have two of our recent Simrad Yachting product introductions recognised for innovation at the Miami Boat Show for the second year in a row," said Louis Chemi, chief operating officer, Navico Americas. "We appreciate the industry for its continued endorsement of our efforts and company mission. This continued recognition for Simrad Yachting - as well as our Lowrance and B&G brands -validates our commitment to provide truly innovative and game-changing electronics that improve and simplify the overall boating experience as well as on-the-water safety."

The NMMA Innovation Award-winning Simrad BSM-2 Broadband Sounderª module provides enhanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and is the first sonar to incorporate Frequency Sweeping Pulse Compression technology - also known as "CHIRP" - in a recreational application; producing higher resolution, deeper depths, and less noise. The sonar system delivers as much as five times greater target resolution than comparable offshore performance echo sounders on the market and offers the most detailed mid-water definition and penetrates the deepest waters on the planet - digital readings are possible for depths greater than 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) for a powerful performance advantage in any situation.
